Community and connection through music
Created in response to a brief focused on helping new students connect with people who share similar interests, I developed Social Sounds an app designed to bring students together through music.
The app allows users to create personalised profiles featuring badges that visually represent different music genres. These profiles help users discover, message, and interact with others who enjoy similar artists and musical interests. To add another layer of interactivity, the app also includes a daily quiz inspired by Wordle, where users identify a simplified album cover. Players can share their scores with others, encouraging conversation and adding a social, competitive element.
The project explores how music can be used as a tool for connection at a time when listening habits have become increasingly individualised through streaming platforms and headphones. The app aims to reintroduce a sense of community through music discovery and interaction.
