Grip a Newspaper

for Change

Reliability, Design, Tactility and Truth

In a world of constant feeds, algorithms, likes, and misinformation, I curated an alternative option. A slower-paced way of consuming news in a purposeful, tactile, and enjoyable format. I designed a newspaper called Grip, aimed at providing a reliable news source for a younger generation, encouraging engagement with physical media as well as trustworthy, verified journalism. It brings back the concept of credible reporting and editorial integrity.

Inspired by the slower-paced journalism of Private Eye, and not dictated by the constant demands of the 24 hour news cycle, Grip is published every two weeks. It offers a curated selection of national, international, political, environmental, and entertainment news.

The project was led by audience research and feedback gathered from 120 people, which informed the content, tone, style, and name. A core ethos of my work is that it must be influenced and tailored for the audience so that it can be adopted by them and feel like it belongs to them. If it only works in isolation, then it is not truly working.
